Behind the Mission
Behind Every Refresh Pack: The Dedicated Leaders Committed to Empowering Children in North Texas
Elizabeth Watkins
President and Founder
Refresh Founder Elizabeth Watkins has called North Texas home for the last 16 years. Touched by the need she saw through her volunteer work on PTA boards and at a local food pantry, she set out to ensure that every child in the community has access to personal hygiene items. In May 2019, Elizabeth founded local nonprofit Refresh Frisco, which provides quarterly, customized hygiene packs to children in need in her community. Refresh expanded to include the Little Elm school district in 2021 and Denton Braswell High School in 2023. In just 4 short years, Refresh has become an organization that over 1550 students rely on to help keep them feeling clean and confident.
Elizabeth holds a BS in Accounting from NAU and an MBA from Gonzaga University. Elizabeth was recognized as the Texas Governor’s Volunteer of the Year Award Winner in April 2023 at the Governor’s Mansion in Austin, TX. Elizabeth is an Ambassador for the Frisco Chamber of Commerce engaging and advocating for the business community.
Refresh was named Best of Frisco and Best of Little Elm by Star Local Media’s Readers’ Choice Awards in 2022. Refresh was also named Best in Business by Frisco Style Magazine in 2021.
Renee Wyse
Treasurer
Renee’s life of service began through volunteering in the teacher workroom when her children were in elementary school, inspiring her to become involved with and join the local PTA. Over the next 13 years, Renee’s responsibilities within the Frisco PTA grew as she took on various board positions at the local level in the elementary, middle, and high schools her children attended, but the Treasurer role always held a special place in her heart. In 2019, Renee was asked to serve as Treasurer of the Board on the Frisco ISD Council of PTAs. Renee went on to serve for a season as Secretary, and currently serves as Multicultural Chair for the Frisco ISD Council of PTAs and VP of Membership on the Wakeland High School PTSA Board. Prior to and concurrent with these roles, Renee sat on the Board of Directors for Young Men’s Service League (“YMSL”), an organization focused on Mothers and Sons volunteering together in community service projects, as Parliamentarian and other Board roles, until her sons graduated high school.
Frisco has been home to Renee and her husband, Luke, and their three children for 15 years. Two of their children have graduated high school and now attend the universities of Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, respectively. Their third child is a senior at Wakeland High School and will graduate in May of 2025. Renee’s passion for meeting the needs of the children in her community and the depth of her experience make her a valuable addition to the Board of Refresh NTX.
